Boston, MA — Communication via Design (CviaD) is proud to have launched a new website for New Generation Energy (NGE), a Boston-based non-profit dedicated to making communities greener, healthier, and more economically vital through the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
The new website enables local, environmentally-concerned citizens to donate to specific solar, wind, efficiency and biomass projects in their area. The site allows NGE to aggregate donations from multiple small donors and provide local non-profits and small business with the funds they need to successfully complete their green-energy or efficiency projects.
CviaD built a custom Drupal-based website focused on donor experience. A vibrant, rotating JQuery animation showcases a series of successful, fully-funded projects and initiatives. Inspired donors, are able to select a featured project or search through project listings to choose a project with maximum energy savings and CO2 reductions. After submitting a secure, project-specific donation through an integrated payment gateway, donors are able to submit a comment or reflection. Fundraising totals per project are automatically updated, providing the donor immediate gratification.
A web-based microfunding site is a unique breakthrough in green investing. "Now non-profits can get funding for their green energy projects, educate the public about their sustainability efforts, and illustrate real world, practical applications of green energy technology", explains Chuck Lewin, Executive Director of NGE. "The entire donation experience is seamless and intuitive, and project supporters feel connected to a world of like-minded individuals and organizations who want to put America's communities on a healthy and more sustainable path. To date, we have successfully funded several projects and reduced lifetime carbon emissions by 1,050,030 lbs."
